Trauma

When you have trauma to the eye, such as getting hit in the eye, having something stuck in your eye, scratches and abrasions, it is most important that you are seen immediately.  Please contact our office as soon as possible.  We will be happy to see you IMMEDIATELY.  

When the natural barrier to the eye (the epithelium) has been breached by a scratch or abrasion,  opportunistic bacteria (which are always present on the eye) love to bring in their friends and have a little party!.  Within 48 hours these bacteria have infected the eye to such an extent that, left untreated, could result in loss of the eye.  

Dr. Winbigler successfully treats these types of eye trauma.  These types of truamas have a MEDICAL diagnosis and are treated with antibiotics, steroids, oral meds and/or bandage contact lenses.  We will submit these types of problems to your major medical insurance.
